Bergen Scottish Society

Bergen Pipes & Drums

The chance meeting of a British and a Danish piper saw the formation of Scottish Pipeband here in Bergen in 2005.

The band expanded quickly, receiving members from many nationalities, including Norwegian! In November 2009 the band restructured into two bands. The band maintaining its association with the Bergen Scottish Society was renamed Bergen Pipes and Drums. The pipe band is a regular feature at Bergen Scottish Society ceilidhs and Burns' Suppers, the 17th of May celebrations in Bergen and many other events around Bergen.  Bookings can be ordered via their website or by making direct contact.  See the More Information section below.

Learn to play the pipes and drums

Are you keen to learn either the bagpipes or drums? Do you want to play in a pipe band?

Both young and older students are most welcome to come and try them out. Tuition is free. Existing players are, of course, very welcome to join us as well!

The band practices at Nordnes School every Monday and Wednesday from 630 pm - 9 pm. Come along to get an idea of what it's all about!

Hire a pipe band!

Both Bergen Pipe & Drums and individual pipers and drummers are available to play at events as diverse as birthdays, graduations, weddings, funerals and julebord, as well as other private, public and corporate functions.
